Well, we know enough about website marketing to know that there are three main factors that should be in any website to become truly marketable.
The first factor is the layout. It does not take a genius to know that layout is 100%, everything, that is, at least for your first-time visitors. What you want to do is have your website audited by professionals. By professionals, we mean Search Engine Optimization (SEO) professionals.
SEO are practices are aimed at making any website rank on Google for different keywords. While at first glance it may seem like it has nothing to do with a website’s layout, the fact of the matter is that among the 200 factors that Google’s search engine algorithm takes into consideration for ranking websites, one of them is called bounce rate.
Bounce rate is the percentage of your visitors who clicked on the X or back button after seeing only one page. The higher the bounce rate, the more trouble it is for you. A high bounce rate often happens when the layout is not engaging enough for the visitors. Please take note, an engaging layout is not necessarily a beautiful layout. And we have seen our share of websites that, relatively speaking, did not look too good but had a low bounce rate.
The second factor for making your website more marketable is the content. Like the layout, your content needs to be engaging. Publish content that is a mix of human interest and solid info. What you want to do is target different segments of your audience so that your content gets shared on their social media accounts. Create videos, infographics and long articles to keep your visitors occupied.
The third factor for making your website more marketable is an incentive. By incentive, we do mean something valuable that your audience would be willing to exchange for their email address. It could be an ebook or something else. It really doesn’t matter. What matters is that the content is valuable enough to be worth the trust.
Once you have hacked the three factors – layout, content, and incentive – you will be tackling the three different marketing channels that seasoned online marketers are extensively using. These are SEO, social media marketing, and email marketing.
Making your website more marketable and profitable takes time, effort and money. However, no matter how much you put into your website with regards to the different marketing methods, it will not matter unless you are settled on your brand and your business%u2019 Unique Selling Proposition, or what sets your business apart.
